TIDAL Creates New Stage For RISING Artists at New York Fashion Week

Innovative Soundtrack Project Decentralizes the Creative Process

At TIDAL we are reimagining how our platform can give artists a chance to reach new audiences. Music is at the intersection of everything that touches on lifestyle and entertainment, with fashion and music being two of the hardest industries to break into. This Fashion Week, TIDAL is giving emerging artists the opportunity to co-create a custom track exclusively for womenswear designer Kim Shui’s decentralized runway show.

Decentralizing the Creative Process
This creative soundtrack project brings fans in on the curation process and opens up artists to new fanbases, and most importantly represents what’s to come in music. The past few years have unpredictable circumstances that have led to artists exploring new approaches to how they create and collaborate.

To create the track, Kim Shui and TIDAL crowdsourced voicemails from music and fashion lovers, asking fans to share an anecdote of something that used to embarrass them that they now love, for incorporation in the official show soundtrack.

Focusing on RISING Artists
Created by RISING Producer Stelios, the runway show track weaves soundbites from crowdsourced fan voicemails with vocals from Dizzy Fae and strings by composer and musician Pip. The runway track embodies collective vulnerability and strength among women to reflect the theme of Kim Shui’s show in celebrating the women warrior. Following its debut at Kim Shui’s collection unveiling today, the track, “Gymnopédie Revue,” is now available to stream on TIDAL as part of a handcrafted playlist for Kim Shui’s show.

All elements of Kim Shui’s show are driven by inclusivity, access and community participation, from the first-ever Fashion Week crowdsourced runway garment to this collaborative soundtrack.

This is the latest example of how TIDAL RISING, the platform’s program dedicated to empowering up-and-coming artists, is opening up new spaces to spotlight these fresh voices and introduce them to new audiences.
